one week

One week left until we leave for vacation!  YAY!  All we have to do is get through 5 more days of work and we are done.  I have a countless number of things to do before we leave…I need to make around 476 lists (maybe more) of things we need for the hotel, beach, flight, not to mention packing up our little babe for a week-long stay at his 3 wonderful aunts house (thank you girls).  I know, I know, he’s a dog…but…

…how do I say goodbye to that face?!

I have a feeling once we look like these people again

…all sunny, happy, not being pushed by strangers on the subway, or obsessively checking our iphones,  we will find a way to get through it!

Places We Find Rondo

Rondo is quite the jumper.  He can get on/in almost anything in our apartment and it is just hysterical.  Here are some of my recent favorites of places we have found the little guy…

Home For Good Dogs/Looking Down On Us

581170_10100650831285903_1591221667_nI think you all know, not only by the name of the blog, we are kind of (ok totally) obsessed with our little Rondo.  I thought today I would share the story of how we brought home this guy and the amazing work Home For Good Dogs is doing!

We had been looking for a puppy for a while….we used Pet Finder, looked through tons of sites, and sent countless emails to both shelters and breeders.  Then one day Jay found Rondo (who was listed as a girl!) and we fell in love with his picture.

003(the picture on pet finder of rondo)

Then life took a turn, as it does, and I lost my cousin.  It couldn’t have been more tragic and is something I still can’t comprehend…the day after as we were making plans to travel home to be with my family, HFGD called and told me we were approved for Rondo (who at that time we thought was a girl and we were going to name Cholula).  I told them I wouldn’t be able to come get him as we had a horrible loss in the family, but thank you so much…

As I was talking to Toni from HFGD (amazing woman!) it turned out HFGD is located in the town where my cousin lived.  Again, I told her how I would love to meet the puppies, but I wouldn’t be able to.  She understood, but as we were about to hang up she asked where I lived in NJ (about 45 minutes away from my cousins house and HFGD) and she said “no problem! we will just bring the dogs to that petsmart for you on Sunday”.  And quick as that everything changed.

That weekend I went to meet up with Toni and the puppies.  She picked them both up and that’s when we realized that though they were both listed as girls, one was most definitely a boy!  I held them both and didn’t know how I could possibly decide who to bring home…then Rondo licked my face and I was sold.

I like to think my cousin was looking down (and even though she wasn’t a pet person) she sent us Rondo.  I’m always calling Rondo my little heaven angel…

I can’t say enough about the amazing work Home For Good Dogs does.  They are non-profit full of loving, helpful, warm volunteers who only want the best for their adoptable dogs.  Look at some of these cuties who need homes now…

Please take some time and like their Facebook to continue support for this wonderful place!  If you know of anyone in the area looking for a loving pet to bring home please look to them!  They have adoption events in Milburn throughout December.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and this story brings a little bit of light to your day, as Rondo does with us.

Bedtime Routine…

1. Everything is my toy even your bed…yum yum yum

2. WHAT?  I’m just chewing a little…look at my face?  Are you really mad? I won’t even ruin it!

3. (Come in and find a big hole in the duvet) I’m tired from all that chewing…I mean not chewing…

He is seriously lucky he is so cute!

Nets/Celtics

Last night I went to the new Barclays Center for a preseason Celtics/Nets game with my friend Tyler!  The stadium is pretty awesome…comfy seats, all with great views of the court, not just hot dogs and popcorn for food, and a photo booth…

…who doesn’t love a photo booth?!

We were surrounded by Celtics fans too…who would have thought?  Then we came back and hung out with Rondo (the stadium should allow dogs there that are named after the players)!  I think he met his new best friend…

Spoiled

This is from last night…it’s embarrassing how much this little guy has taken over.  He does this on his own too.  He goes under the covers and then comes up (in the middle of Jay and I) and puts his head on the pillow.  So spoiled…so, so, spoiled.

A Wedding!

This weekend we were in Chesapeake City to see one of my closest friends in the world get married.  They were calling for rain but we got lovely sunshine! She looked absolutely perfect!  There couldn’t have been a more wonderful day to see her marry her best friend.

It’s hard when you’re in the wedding to take pictures, but as soon as the professional ones come in, I’ll be sure to post them.  Here are some of the ones I have…

I can’t wait to share more pictures of the beautiful venue, flowers, friends, and family who were at the wedding.  Getting to spend time surrounded by all your best friends, have a professional do your hair and makeup, and seeing a happy couple take this big step is a pretty good weekend in my book!

Rondo spent the weekend with parents at home loving life.  He got to go on long walks, get totally completely spoiled by my Mom, snuggle in a big house, and enjoy the grass.  Thank you again M&D for taking him, and more importantly, taking care of Jay and I on Sunday when we were a little worse for wear…what would I do without you two?

Last night Jay and I went to see Frightened Rabbit (one of my favs) at Bowery Ballroom.  We were both pretty tired, but made sure to get our act together for this show.  Two encores!  It was totally worth feeling a little groggy this morning.  Plus, we only drank water last night which definitely helped!

Enemies…

As usual, busy week!  Print weeks are always a little wild here at Rolling Stone.  Between getting all my art approved, making sure everything is booked, and my IOs are good to go, a lot has to be done in a short period of time.  The silver lining to all this madness is today is my Friday!  We’re off to see one of my best friends get married this weekend, yay!  I’m in the wedding (another yay) which means walking down the isle in the enemy above…be kind heels, be kind.

I met up with my other enemy/best friend today at lunch…

Oh fries with gravy and cheese…why must you be so delicious and so bad for me?  I love you so much…so much.

Just some things going on in the neighborhood.  They filmed Boardwalk at Diner, they were filming another episode right outside our building today, and suddenly there are neon heels on a bunch of telephone wires…weird.

One final picture before the weekend, a little preview of Halloween…

Cutest little guy in the world!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.  I can’t wait to share pictures of the wedding!

United Nations

With all the hustle and bustle over the visitors to the UN (Obama, Agmadinejad), and road closures due to it, midtown has been a little crazy the past couple days.  My friend Erin and I decided to walk over to the UN at lunch and watch the important people walk by!  We ended up finding a raised park that overlooked the UN and stayed there enjoying the view instead of our normal lunch stroll…

And like the grownups we are, watching the important officials walk by…we had ring pops…

This is why we work for magazines and not the State Department.

Yesterday was also Rondo’s first day at puppy day care.  It may be the best thing that has happened to Jay and I in months.  We got home last night, he ate dinner, waited for Jay at the door, and then he was OUT for the rest of the night.  Yes!!

This morning though, he was back to his hyper self.  I got out of the shower to this scene…lovely boy.

At least he is using those long legs for something!

Nada

This weekend we did a whole lot of nothing!  After all of the traveling and weekends apart we were both looking forward to a weekend of napping, movie watching, and cuddling the pup…which is exactly what we did!

Saturday Rondo and I went to a new park by the river…check it out…

You could walk right into the river if you wanted!  Naturally, Rondo gave this his best effort.

Jay and I went on a date to Sea that night and ordered enough for 6 people.  The food was incredible and we had a tasty lunch the next day with all those leftovers.

(my attempt at a braid across my hair for dinner)

Then, like I said, lots and lots of napping, movies, snuggling, and an annoying amount of pictures with the pup…

On Sunday Rondo got to play with his new best friend Frank (which means I got to play with Frank’s mama Chelsea! yay!) Here are the two little guys together:

So cute and afterwards soooo tired and a little sulky because his friend left…

Now it’s back to another work week at Rolling Stone… I miss the weekend!
