Sausage & Brussels

We eat chicken sausage probably once a week.  They are so delicious, and not SO horrible for you!  How I have never combined my bizarre love of Brussel sprouts and sausages before I don’t know.  The hardest part of this recipe is chopping the sprouts, seriously. Anyways, wanted to share another simple one that ends up really really tasty!

Chicken Sausage & Brussels

What You Need:

Chicken Sausage (I get Aidells garlic & gruyere)
Ziti
Brussel Sprouts (I use the frozen ones)Olive Oil
S&P

Directions:

Make your sprouts! Preheat oven to 425*.

1. Defrost the sprouts in mic with 2 tbsp of water and then cut them in half/quarter

2. Toss the chopped sprouts in olive oil and about 1/4 tsp pepper and 1/2 tsp salt (change this to taste)

3. Spread them out on an aluminum foil lined pan and bake for about 30 minutes, but this depends on your oven and how brown you want them.  Keep on checking and shaking and tasting and salting throughout the cooking process.

4. In the meantime boil your water, cook your pasta, and cook your sausages.  I slice the sausages up while cooking into bite size pieces.

5.  When it is all cooked, toss it all together with a little bit of olive oil and done!

Hope you guys make this one and enjoy it, it has become a staple over here!

Fall in the City / Recipe

Fall in nyc isn’t quite the same as driving through the town I grew up in with changing leaves on every corner…but there is a little bit of color here which makes me happy.  I’ll take what I can get!  Plus, not being home means I don’t have to rake leaves…Dad knows how happy this makes me.

Last night I made some Halloween Bark for a party we are going to Saturday.  It came out pretty perfect…it was also crazy easy!  You can find the recipe here.  Here is the cooled bark:

And the final all bagged:

Jay and I are both excited to dress up this weekend and enjoy the party!

I’m pretty sure my family has already seen this picture but I love it so much I thought I would share…

Look at the anger!  I put the leash on him and then went to brush my teeth.  He was NOT having it…cracks me up.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Surprise Face!

The past couple days have been busy with work for both Jay and I.  This means delivery dinner and early to bed.  At least someone has been enjoying this beautiful fall sunshine while we are working…

I have managed to get Rondo to the dog park every night, which is actually, completely, selfish.  Taking that hour after work for him to run around means no playing fetch in the hallway for hours when we want to watch SOA.  Definitely worth it.  Here is a great building we pass buy on our walk to the park…

Here it is…the (best) surprise face from Reggie’s surprise party this weekend.  This is right when he walked in the door…terrified and so fantastic!

One last thing… NY Mag has a great article about South Williamsburg and all of the amazing new restaurants, bars, and real estate being built.  I love my neighborhood!  Check out the article here.
